LED Lighting FAQ

Selection, certifications, warranty, magnetic systems, and installation — answered by the LightSeek engineering team.

Product Selection

How to choose LED track lighting for a museum?

Museum lighting requires high color fidelity and conservation-grade control. Choose fixtures with CRI≥95 and R9>50 to render artwork accurately, low UV/IR emission to protect pigments, narrow 15–24° beams for accent, and DALI dimming to keep light below 50 lux for sensitive materials.

How to choose LED track lighting for a retail store?

Retail track lighting should deliver CRI≥90 to make merchandise look vivid, 3000–4000K color temperature to match brand ambiance, and adjustable beam angles to highlight displays. Anti-glare optics with UGR<19 keep shoppers comfortable.

What color temperature (CCT) should I choose for commercial lighting?

2700K for warm hospitality ambiance, 4000K for neutral office and retail environments, and 5000K+ for task-critical areas. For merchandise that needs to stand out, 3000–3500K is common; 5000K improves alertness in precision work areas.

What CRI do I need for retail or museum lighting?

Ra≥80 for general commercial use, Ra≥90 for retail and display lighting, and Ra≥95 with R9>50 for museums and premium galleries where color fidelity is critical.

How do I choose the right beam angle?

Narrow beams (≤18°) for accent and spotlighting, 18–36° for general lighting, and ≥36° for wide wash. Match the beam to the object size and ceiling height.

24V or 48V magnetic track system — which do I need?

24V suits short runs and low-load residential or retail ceilings; 48V supports longer runs and higher total load for commercial projects. Both accept linear, spot, and pendant modules.

What is SDCM and why does it matter?

SDCM (Standard Deviation of Color Matching) measures color consistency between fixtures. ≤5 SDCM is acceptable for standard projects; ≤3 SDCM is recommended for premium installations where visible color mismatch is unacceptable.

Certifications & Market Access

Which certifications do I need for the EU market?

CE and RoHS are mandatory for the EU. LVD and EMC are covered under the CE mark; a CB certificate is often used as the basis for national approvals.

Which certifications are required for North America?

UL or ETL for safety, plus FCC for electromagnetic compliance. DLC is often needed to qualify for utility rebates on commercial fixtures.

What is SAA certification and is it needed for Australia?

SAA (with the RCM mark) is the mandatory safety approval for electrical products sold in Australia. Our outdoor and commercial fixtures carry SAA for the Australian market.

Do your products carry CCC and FCC?

Yes — CCC for the Chinese market and FCC for the US market are part of our standard certification set, alongside CE and RoHS. Select models also carry UL/ETL, SAA, TUV, and CB.

Warranty & Quality

What does the 5-year warranty cover?

Full 5-year coverage on all export products — no pro-rating and no hidden exclusions. Defective fixtures are replaced with remote technical guidance; for batch-level issues we absorb all costs including on-site repair.

What is the expected LED lifespan?

Our Tier-1 chips (Philips, Bridgelux, OSRAM, Lumileds) carry L70 ratings of 50,000+ hours. Thermal design is critical — every 10°C reduction in junction temperature roughly doubles LED life.

How do you ensure product quality?

Every fixture undergoes a 24-hour aging test before dispatch, with incoming-material, in-process, and final inspections. We use isolated constant-current drivers with 4kV surge protection and 6063 aluminum thermal structures.

Magnetic Track Systems

What is a magnetic track lighting system?

A low-voltage (24V or 48V DC) track with conductive rails that lets magnetic luminaires snap in and reposition without tools. Linear, spotlight, pendant, and ball-light modules can be mixed freely.

Can I mix different luminaire types on one magnetic track?

Yes. Linear, spot, pendant, flexible strip, and 360° ball lights share the same track within the system’s rated load — for example 80W on the NANO 5 24V system.

What dimming protocols do magnetic modules support?

Depending on the model: On/Off, Zigbee 3.0, Bluetooth, MiJia, Tuya Bluetooth, and TRIO CCT (3000K/4000K/5000K switchable). All maintain Ra>90 across color temperature options.

Installation & Dimming

What dimming protocol should I choose?

TRIAC for retrofit installations, 0–10V for general commercial, and DALI for premium smart buildings needing addressable, groupable control. DALI is preferred for museums and high-end retail.

DALI vs 0-10V vs TRIAC: which dimming protocol is better?

TRIAC is the simplest and cheapest for retrofits but can flicker and offers no individual control. 0–10V is robust and widely used in commercial spaces with smooth dimming to 1%. DALI is the most advanced — addressable per fixture, groupable, feedback-capable, and ideal for museums, retail chains, and smart buildings. Choose based on project budget and control complexity.

Can your track lights be surface-mounted, recessed, and suspended?

Yes — our track rails and magnetic systems support surface, recessed, and suspended mounting in 1m/1.5m/2m/3m lengths, in black or white finish.

What IP rating do I need for outdoor lighting?

IP20 for indoor only, IP54 for damp indoor areas, and IP65+ for outdoor exposure. Our outdoor spike, garden, and staircase lights are IP65, with 12V/24V low-voltage options for safety.

OEM & ODM Services

Can LightSeek provide custom LED track light design?

Yes. We offer full OEM and ODM services from market research and industrial design to 3D prototyping and mold development. Our engineering team can customize housing color, beam optics, driver configuration, and packaging.

What is the MOQ for OEM or ODM orders?

MOQ depends on the level of customization. Standard logo and color OEM projects often start at 100–300 units per SKU. Fully custom ODM projects with new molds typically require higher volumes; contact us with your specifications for a detailed quote.

Can I get samples before placing a bulk order?

Yes. We provide samples for evaluation, including IES files and DIALux design support. Sample lead time is usually 5–7 working days for standard products and 2–3 weeks for custom configurations.

Procurement & Delivery

What is the lead time for bulk orders?

Standard bulk orders ship 2–4 weeks after order confirmation. Custom OEM/ODM projects typically require 6–10 weeks depending on mold complexity and approval cycles.

Do you provide DIALux or IES files for lighting design?

Yes. We provide IES files and DIALux support for project-based lighting design, helping architects and lighting designers simulate lux levels, beam spread, and energy calculations.

Which payment terms do you accept?

We typically operate on T/T (bank transfer) with a deposit before production and balance before shipment. For established partners, we can discuss letter-of-credit or open-account terms on a case-by-case basis.
